sean, can you get an idea of what the hvac and duct work will cost? i'm completely open to exposed duct work and i think i've read that the bigger the duct work, the quieter the system.

perhaps your dad has a system and duct work he would like to donate

i'm working on a spreadsheet list that i will post soon of materials. perhaps everyone can look over it and add or subtract to it.

I'll send him an e-mail with the design plans and see what he says.

It's rare that a working HVAC system is taken from a job, usually customers/businesses wait until their system is not functioning correctly. But you never know.

I e-mailed the plans to my dad today, he was at a seminar in Chicago all week but he should have an estimate in a couple days.

Tate, my dad got the plans, the e-mail at their house was down for a couple days. He said:

It will take me a couple of days to get the duct sized. I assume that the kitchen and bath will be conditioned by the same unit? If they are separate systems let me know as it will effect the size of the unit and duct.

So, let me know what to tell him about that.

the kitchen and bath will be on the same unit, but i'd like to see what the other option (two units) would be as well. that way the duct work would be isolated. remember, we want the airflow to be silent or as close to silent as possible.
